Once Upon a Sunday (Audible Audio Edition) Renee Allen McCoy, Stacy Wilson, FaytheWorks Publishing Books Reviews

This short story causes you to think about the blessing in your life. The main character is going through a rough time in her life and her world is falling apart. A guardian angel is present by her side even though she is not aware of it. God will always provide a way out if we confess our sins and learn to lean on him.
We all are faced with adversary at some point in our lives. It's how we deal with them and pick up the pieces that really matters, and that was proven here. God is always in the mist waiting on us to make the decision. Renee, this was a very short story but you got your point across well! It would be great if you could do a spin off!
Melinda realize that she needed God in her life. Asking for help from God allowed her to entertain Vita. This reassurance of Faith let's us know that God is with us and never leaves us. We must ask for His help.
I loved how God reacted and helped Melinda after her dedicating her life back to Christ. Her bridges were reestablished much stronger than before. God is just that GOOD!
Very difficult to read, watching the domino effect of disaster afflict a single mother going through a crumbling marriage & about to lose her child

I gave it a chance, hoping to see more of a Christian message throughout. However, it was also difficult reading the glass-half-empty attitude on nearly every page.
Melinda lost her job, her husband cheated, had cps called on her for an accident. She was really going through it and didn’t lean on God at all. When she was going to end her life, an angel appeared and she saw the goodness of God’s he was right on time. She rededicated her life and things started to fall into place. It was a very short book but it had a great message about the redeeming power of Jesus.
Melinda Black is having a rough day rough couple of months. After her husband has an affair, Melinda just can’t seem to get back to normal. After snapping one too many times at work she loses her job and the roller coaster ride begins. Her close friends try to help and keep her spirits lifted but Melinda’s faith has long since wavered. Good Friday changes her forever.

This novella was a good change of pace read. The story line was thought out, but the characters could’ve used a tad more development. Anyone whose ever been in a relationship should be able to relate to the frustrations Melinda is going through.

4Stars
There was a very good story line to this. I liked the fact that the main character realized her short comings prior to her salvation. I could not understand her Mom though until the end. I think that a person has to be seriously hurt by someone or something to not see your own child in the need of consultation. I felt so happy when it came together in the book. Everyone needs good Christian friend like those ladies who did try to help. But as usual in life and in fiction God has to be the one to turn Saul into Paul.
Good Friday is turning out to be anything but good for Melinda. The shameful way she loses her job may be nothing compared to how her marriage has recently crumbled. What's coming around the corner for her this Easter could be the making or breaking of her in Once Upon a Sunday by author Renée Allen McCoy.

I appreciate how much the author packed into a story of this length without overstuffing it or making it feel like disjointed chaos. There's enough backstory and tidbits about Melinda to help you understand and empathize with her. It's a very "come to Jesus" type of read for those who like an evangelistic message in their Christian Fiction.

I did find the story's confusion of tenses to be distracting. As Melinda relates her account to the reader in first person, she switches back and forth between past and present tense quite a bit, and most of the switches don't seem intentional. Also, as the story wraps up, it starts to wrap up a little too perfectly. I think some of the outcomes would've needed more time and development, so as not to feel Happily-Ever-After-like so suddenly.

Still, it's an uplifting story that deals with hard issues, and I think many other ChristFic fans will enjoy it.
